In Search of Kelty’s Ancestors and Dinner in Dunoon (April 2018)

Just those few months earlier from our time in Leicestershire, I was offered an opportunity to write about both Argyll and Edinburgh and realized it would be a good chance to cover those very interesting parts of Scotland for the big dog book to come. In fact, we were now able to make that pilgrimage to the very origins of the West Highland White Terrier and even take a side trip down to sacred territory to me, the Lake District in England. Unfortunately, Kelty would not be allowed to take the direct flight to Glasgow given the barbaric and inhumane rules put in place by Her Majesty’s government. Nonetheless, the research would help me flesh out a fuller picture of Britain and fill in some English gaps in our upcoming month-long adventure with our soon-to-be-famous dog.

With great sadness, we left Kelty at Country Critters in nearby Seaforth, Nova Scotia. Mary Taplin had a large fenced-in property on a hill that ran down to the sea and took in many dogs at a time. Kelty was happy there, but when we would return it would take a few days for him to recover from all the excitement of having reverted to a pack dog.
